The rules, brick by brick.

What you agree to when you use Bricknamic. The three key points are summarized first, followed by the full terms article by article. Where the summary and the articles differ, the articles prevail.

Public data only Models are built from public GitHub repositories and public package data. Bricknamic does not read private repositories or store source code.
Anyone can see a build There is one model per repository, and anyone who knows the repository’s address can view it. Builds are also listed in the gallery.
License results are for reference only They come from automated analysis, may be wrong, and are not legal advice. Base your final decisions on the original license texts.
Article 1

Purpose and definitions

These Terms of Service (the Terms) set out the conditions and procedures for using Bricknamic (https://bricknamic.com, the Service), operated by DeepDynamic Inc. (the Company), and the rights and obligations of the Company and Users. The following definitions apply in these Terms.

  • User: Any individual or legal entity that uses the Service under these Terms.
  • Build: A request by a User, made by entering the address of a GitHub repository, for the Service to create a Model.
  • Model: The 3D brick model that the Service assembles from a repository’s dependency and license information, together with its parts list, card, badge, embed, and summary.
  • Gallery: The page that collects and displays public Models (/gallery).
  • Agent: A program that operates the Service or calls its API on behalf of a User, such as a browser agent or a script.
Article 2

Effect and amendments

The Company posts these Terms on this page so that Users can view them at any time. These Terms apply to all Users of the Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Company may amend these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable laws. When it does, the Company will post the effective date, the changes, and the reasons for them on this page, together with the current Terms, starting 7 days before the effective date, or 30 days before it for changes that are unfavorable to Users. Service notices will be displayed on the Service.

If, when giving notice of the changes, the Company clearly states that Users who do not object before the effective date will be deemed to have agreed, and a User does not object, that User is deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms. Users who do not agree may stop using the Service.

Matters not addressed in these Terms are governed by applicable laws, including the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Etc., and the Personal Information Protection Act, and by general commercial practice.

Article 3

The Service

The Company provides the following services:

  • Examining the dependency packages of a public GitHub repository and the license of each package, and assembling them into a 3D brick model colored by license family.
  • Letting Users rotate, zoom, and filter Models in the viewer, and share them as links, iframe embeds, cards, and badges.
  • Letting Users request and browse Models through the Gallery and the public API (/api/v1).

The Service uses public information only. It first looks up package, dependency, and license information on deps.dev (Google Open Source Insights). For repositories not found there, it uses the repository information and dependency graph provided by GitHub. If neither is available, it downloads the repository’s public source archive and reads only its import statements. Source archives are not stored after they are read. The Service keeps only the information a Model needs, such as package names, versions, and licenses, and public repository information such as star counts. The Service does not read private repositories.

The Service is free of charge. If paid features are introduced, the Company will announce the fees and conditions in advance and will charge a User only with that User’s separate consent.

To keep the Service stable, the Company may limit the number of requests and the number of Builds that can run at the same time, and may reject or delay requests that exceed these limits. It may not be possible to create a Model for a repository with an excessive number of dependencies. To apply these limits, the Service counts requests per IP address (for IPv6, per 48-bit prefix) and sends the requester’s IP address to Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a Build request comes from a person. While a Build is in progress, the Service also stores that address or prefix with the Build to limit concurrent Builds, and deletes it when the Build ends.

The Company may temporarily suspend all or part of the Service for good cause, such as maintenance, equipment failure, or an outage at a data provider like deps.dev or GitHub, and will post a notice on the Service in advance. If advance notice is not possible, the Company will give notice without delay afterward. The Company will give notice at least 30 days before discontinuing the Service.

Article 4

Visibility of builds

Build results are meant to be public. Before requesting a Build, make sure you understand the following.

  • Only one Model is created per repository, and all Users see the same Model. If anyone builds the same repository again, the previous result is replaced by the new one.
  • Anyone who knows the repository’s address or a share link can view the Model through the viewer, the API, or an embed.
  • Builds are published in the Gallery. No account is required to build, view, or share a Model.
  • The Company may select certain Models in the Gallery and show them first as featured items (Library).

Do not build a repository that you do not want made public. Repository owners may request removal under Article 6.

Article 5

User obligations

Users must not engage in any of the following:

  1. 1 Circumventing usage limits, for example by rotating multiple IP addresses or accounts, or placing excessive load on the Service in a way that disrupts other Users
  2. 2 Attempting to access accounts or systems without authorization, or disabling the Service’s security measures
  3. 3 Altering license results to display or distribute them as if a repository or package had a license other than its actual one
  4. 4 Reselling the Service itself for a fee without the Company’s consent, or offering it in a way that misleads others into believing it is provided by the Company
  5. 5 Violating applicable laws or infringing the rights of third parties, such as copyrights, trademarks, or privacy rights

Users may use the Service through an Agent, and calling the public API within the usage limits is permitted. Any action taken by an Agent is deemed to be an action of the User who entrusted the Agent with using the Service.

If a User engages in any of the above, the Company may, depending on the severity, reject that User’s Build requests, and may terminate the service agreement if the violation is serious or repeated. Before restricting a User, the Company will notify the User of the reason and duration and give them an opportunity to respond. In urgent cases that seriously harm the operation of the Service, however, the Company may impose the restriction first and give notice without delay. If you object to a restriction, let the Company know at the email address below. If the objection is justified, the Company will lift the restriction immediately.

Article 6

Rights and takedowns

All rights in the code and documentation of the repositories the Service reads, and in each package, belong to their respective rights holders. The Company uses public information only to the extent necessary to create Models and claims no rights in that content.

Users may freely reproduce and publish the Models, cards, badges, and embeds created by the Service, provided that the attribution (a link to the viewer or a Bricknamic credit) is kept. All rights in the Service’s design, brick rendering, name, and logo belong to the Company, and any use beyond what this Article permits requires the Company’s consent.

A repository owner, or anyone who believes their rights have been infringed, may request removal from the Gallery or deletion of a Model by emailing the address below with the repository’s address, the reason for the request, and materials showing that they hold the rights. On receiving a request, the Company will review it and take action without delay, and will inform the requester of the outcome. If it is difficult to determine right away whether rights have been infringed, the Company may first remove the Model from the Gallery.

Article 7

Limitation of liability

The licenses shown by brick colors and in parts lists are the result of automated analysis of data provided by third parties such as deps.dev and GitHub, and may be incomplete or incorrect. These results are not legal advice. Always check the original license texts before deciding whether to actually use a package.

The Service is provided free of charge and “as is.” The Company does not warrant that the Service will operate without interruption or error, or that it will suit any particular purpose of a User.

If the Company causes damage to a User intentionally or negligently, it will compensate the User in accordance with applicable laws. However, unless the Company acted intentionally or with gross negligence, it is not liable for damage arising from any of the following:

  • Causes beyond the Company’s control, such as natural disasters, war, power outages, or telecommunications network failures
  • Outages of third-party services such as deps.dev or GitHub, or errors in the data they provide
  • Decisions a User makes based solely on license results without checking the original license texts
  • Disruptions to the use of the Service attributable to the User
  • The contents of third-party repositories read by the Service
Article 8

Disputes and contact

These Terms and the use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises in connection with the use of the Service, the Company and the User will first negotiate in good faith. Any lawsuit over a dispute that is not resolved through negotiation shall be filed with the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
